Tobacco & Leather

New favourite blog: Tobacco & Leather...

It makes her look me in the eye before she's taken away

New Lisbon street art by Os Gémeos & Blu. Look closely on the corner for the BMW R1200C... Favourite colorway too!

I reached inside myself and found nothing there to ease the pressure of my ever worrying mind

Finally found a solution for that crappy old Nitro helmet that's been sitting on my desk for the past year or two! Village Green's designer Tom Darracotti has created an eerie post apocalyptic rat-style helmet utilising chalkboard paint. Have a look at his other creations on his site, new-window.

A new sun risin' on the way we sing and a world of weirdo's waitin' in the wings

Jeff Koons has excelled himself with his interpretation of the BMW M3 GT2. Can't wait to see it cruise around Le Mans! ViaComIt!

It don’t matter what you do, don’t matter what you say, it’s all in the delivery

Head over to ze Last Chance Garage for some great shots of their visit to the BMW Archive museum in Munich, which I will make a pilgramage to myself one day. Wonder is Sabine Breuer still works there?

Dare Jennings profiled in Sydney Magazine

Dare Jennings of 100% Mambo and Deus Ex Machina fame, was featured in the May 2010 issue of Sydney Magazine, a glossy insert that gets bundled with the Sydney Morning Herald. A great write-up of his background and the inspiration behind the iconic surf and motorcycle brands. He's been a significant inspiration to me over the years, back at school all I wanted to do was to work for Mambo so I did work experience at the studio and Phantom Graphics. Met Reg Mombassa and drove around with Dare in his silver Saab to the interior shows which were featuring the Bull designs on some furniture. Then I got into motorbikes and lo and behold, Dare starts Deus. All I wanted to do then was work for Deus, but I have been fortunate enough to be involved in a couple of exhibitions hosted by Deus. He continues to be the motivation for me to innovate and create. Nice work, Dare! Photo by Sahlan Hayes. Also, don't forget the Deus Vintage MX Swap meet tomorrow!

Markus Hofmann x Leslie Porterfield x BMW S1000RR

Photographer Markus Hofmann recently created an interesting shoot profiling the BMW S1000RR, his model is Leslie Porterfield, a 33 year old expert in aerodynamics who holds multiple motorcycle land speed records. Karl Lagerfeld supplied the outfits and BMW supplied the location, their new 170 million euro wind tunnel. Read the full story on Markus' blog! Via twowheelsblog!

Lord knows I’ve paid some dues gettin’ through

Ashley Lande: "I have had mornings kicking down the cobblestones still wet from the rebirth the pillow of the night still beneath you; illuminations that hold the very air in vacuumed rapture; glitter, glittering glittered things surrounding; the love that pervades, the heart whole-made; the oceanic absorption and magic rhythmic mandala shuddering and rippling outward from its centrifuge which is the center of all mystery and life; the Christ love received through eyes lachrymaed and I giving back with the only love I know which is absolute surrender but still a treacly trickle upon the flood entering me; leaves that shudder whispery below the unfurling clouds and the diamond sky; visions untranslatable that evade paper but I still try; also I have had darkness that swallows and shapes that do not meet with the shrillest disharmony; candlelit hells spent in the inhospitable spiral of Papadiabolus; rarely I have had hell but more often I have had heaven as should be granted unto all of us."
My love for you is a stampede of horses!

Yeah, I'm through with sleeping on the sidewalk

The Selvedge Yard just put me onto the flickr page of Futternut, the most incredible collection of photographs from the Daytona Bike Festival through the 70's and 80's. I'm seriously considering getting the lady riding towards the pier tattooed as a full back piece.
