He came home too drunk from mixin' tanqueray and wine
Hopefully the Diary doesn't count as a fashion blog because this is one of the greatest images I have ever seen and I just have a bit of a thing for BMW motorcycles... Sorry Gnar Jen and WAY OUT!, but thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
May the road rise with you
Second favourite artist after Brett Whiteley, Tim Storrier. Wonderful graphic portrayals of the Australian outback and ethos. Now living in Bathurst. Thankyou Tim!

BIKEexif.com keeps makin' my day!
Congratulations to the BIKEexif team for recently passing 1,000,000 page visits. Quite rightly deserved, too, with motorbike gold like this every day.
Welcome back, Belstaff
Hell For Leather just dropped the Belstaff Pure Motorcycle range from Urban Riders. As expected, the range is updated, but still retains the ethos of quality and tradition we have come expect and love about Belstaff. I was in two minds about repurchasing a Trialmaster but will now hold off for one of the blue XL500 jackets, pictured above. Much more in keeping with an F800GS, but will definitely be acquiring a Trialmaster for the R100/S project...

The Southern Death Cult
One of my favourite albums from back in the day... Ian Astbury's first band before The Cult. Last FM rocks my world!

Touratech does it right
Scrolling back through the always intriguing Hell For Leather and found some shots of a very specially modded F800R... Scrambler style! Touratech has some really nice products which actually benefit the performance and functionality of BMWs, in a similar rugged and well crafted way (typically BMW).

If it were only true...
..then this would be the raciest K100 there ever was. Certainly inspirational, however. Via Le Container!

Dave Hill
Found a fantastic image by artist Dave Hill of a BMW-badged Ural over on Design You Trust. More on his site!
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Amazing photographs of Robert M Persig, his son Chris and John and Sylvia Sutherland. This is the actual road trip that inspired Persig's bestseller, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Found on Henry Gurr's amazing site.

Where it all started
Not with this one exactly but same model. '95 BMW F650. The Baroness. Seen on Harrington Street this arvo. Tonight I blasted up Oxford Street and Anzac Parade with a RED F650 (not my old one) and a 1200GS. We were all sitting at the lights together and I said to the F, 'that was my first bike!' To which the F replied, 'was it?' And paused... 'It's a very satisfying ride' Which is pretty much all you can say about it.
Chris down at CBD has bought himself a black 2005 F650GS. He is loving it. Checked it out this arvo, and I must say, I envied him. A prudent purchase, but one that will provide him with many years of faultless and 'satisfying' riding. To say the least.

Yum Peking Chicken Drummets $2.00EA
Took her out for her first really big run last weekend, The Canberra run was more of a day trip. Sydney to Echuca, return. Made it as far as Jerilderie on Friday night, first bit of country night riding. You know, the high beam gamble, where everything turns a bit video game like and you start imagining the different sorts of kangaroo-stepping-onto-the-road scenarios... At 110kms an hour. Stayed at the pub Ned Kelly held hostage, complete with open fire and steak and beer. So good. Onto Echuca from J on Saturday morning, where I had the chance to wind open that throttle as far as it could go. It worked. Home again on Sunday morning. 788kms in 12 hours, including pie and coffee stops. Not bad. Easy, compared to Jewelz, who completely put me to shame by doing the whole damn thing on a Kawazaki ZZR 250. Good fun though. Brought the Ghostesse home with 2,800 kms on the clock, well overdue for her 1,000km service. She goes in on Wednesday.

Leon's Triumph Speed Triple
Ghostess has found a friend at her regular park under bridge, a 2009 Triumph Speed Triple. Pretty sweet, met her owner tonight, bloke called Leon, works at Bridge Climb. We both commiserated about riding brand new bikes in the rain, and found common ground in the sad fact that we both get them home to the garage and sponge our babies down. Well, give 'em a wipe with the chamois, anyway.
