We might have been meant for each other

I am in complete agreement with Ze Last Chance Du Garage, this is the first time I've felt excited about anything from Icon. The Dia de los Muertos helmet is so OTT but seeing as my birthday is November 1st this special day has a certain resonance. Love to spend it in Mexico one year. Ride down the Baja coast...

All veils and misty streets of blue

Cay Broendum and the Wrench Monkees are killin' it with numerous features in magzines and countless appearances on bike blogs all over the world. The latest addition to the workshop, however, is Cay's painting of the men in action in his singular style. The presence of the painting is only reinforcing the spirit of the workshop and the creative flair of the people behind Wrench Monkees. Not only are they mechanics, but artists also. And a band of artisans that are developing a very exciting style and momentum.

The darkness on the edge of town

Starting to think about my birthday coming up in November and it's a personal resolution of mine to be somewhere completely unknown to me on that day. Somewhere I haven't been, somewhere new, a different state. Picked up some maps today from the NRMA, I've got the bike and the Motorcycle Atlas of Australia. Now it's time to start taking reality into account and start planning. And the best place for information for adventure riding is, well, advrider.com. A simple browse through the Gallery section is enough to get the blood boiling and the spirit soaring. Here's a couple of my BMW favourites, but get inspired here!

You're taking a gamble on a little sorrow

First ride back over the Blue Mountains to Orange on the Grey Ghostess, over the Bells Line of Road. A top ride, unless you get stuck behind traffic in a newly appointed 80kmh zone all the way. Fortunately I was taught a lesson in overtaking by a Laverda and a Duke Supermoto. After that I refused to get frustrated and instead just get the hell away from them cars. Good, because it was the most magickal weather Sydney has had since 1955 on the 16th of August. Out near Eglinton, near Bathurst, spotted what I came for, a wedge tail eagle. Chased it around a couple of hills. damn things don't like being photographed. But just seeing it was the main thing.

There were a ton of bikes riding over the mountains, at the Kurrajong Hotel and also at Windsor, which also has an 'Oldest Pub in Australia'. Lots of Harleys, a few boy racers, a few choppers, a couple of Beemers and an odd Guzzi. Fantastic!

BBQ brekkie on Sunday morning in Orange... This is how we roll! What a way to start the day. Penny the blue heeler in the background having a sniff at the bacon bag, God love her!

Cruised over to Mikey's house in Glebe last night, getting there from The Rocks in peak hour traffic was hell (that's my smoke, not the bike's...), but Glebe to Coogee at 9.30pm on a Wednesday night was very fast and fun. Leaning her over into the corners, putting the foot down moto-cross style around roundabouts, stopping on a dime... Looking forward to hitting the open road this weekend...
